About the Scholarship    

It is awarded yearly by the Mark R. McGinly Scholarship Selection Committee. Beginning in June 2002, scholarships have gone to northern Virginia high school seniors who best represent the characteristics that were so apparent in Mark.

It is a scholarship for a good kid, who is also a good student, and an accomplished athlete. It is a scholarship for a young man or young woman who comes to school every day with a smile and contributes to the positive culture of the school in many small ways. It is a scholarship to recognize someone who would otherwise go unrecognized and probably would not qualify for a scholarship from any other source. It is a scholarship for kids who love sports and who persevere to be contributing members of their high school teams. It is a scholarship for a student and an athlete like Mark McGinly.
